Mission Accomplished!!
Happy day! The local Comp USA received a shipment of the Mac OS 10.1 update CDs (the "yes they’re actually FREE" variety) this morning at 11am.
I received my copy mere moments later because a kind employee, whom I had asked about the update previously, clued me in to the arrival of the CDs. It seems that their Apple rep got the FedEx shipment this morning and dropped them off.
I may have gotten the first update CD from the box, which they have stashed behind the customer service desk, but I suspect that they’ll be going quickly. It seems that every employee in the place knew the update was coming and that the customers knew it would be there.
They were very curious about how I knew the update would be there, so I told ‘em: It’s all over the internet.
Since they had the update I also picked up a new mouse for the PowerBook (Logitech optical mouse with 2 buttons and a wheel, $20), to show my support (in addition to the fact that I wanted one, natch). Take care of the Mac users and they will take care of you.
Now, if you will excuse me, I’ve got some updating to do.

Wordtracker top 500
I got my National Disaster Relief Fund at Yahoo. It’s gone up by at least $2 million in the last couple of days, and $30,000 in the last few minutes. I just sent $50.
As I write this (2:37pm CST), they’ve just reached 100,000 donations for a total of $11,686,455.00. Five minutes later: 100,103 for $11,703,710.00. Five more minutes: 100,203 for $11,714,420.00.
Good to see it moving along like that on a Sunday afternoon.
Side note: on a Macintosh if you select another keyboard layout (like Dvorak, for instance) the keyboard menu will show up in your menubar. If you leave it on "U.S." you get a little American Flag in your menubar.

Happy Anniversary!
Today is the 2nd Anniversary (so to speak) of my gluten intolerance diagnosis. In other words: "you’re allergic to pizza and donuts, have a nice day."
It is also the 2nd Anniversary of the Dreamcast, which I picked up at the midnight launch festivities on 9/9/99.
I plan on celebrating both of these momentous, ahh, moments, by not eating wheat, and playing "Soul Calibur". Note that I will not be playing "Half-Life", because those fascist rat bastards dropped the Dreamcast port, much like they dropped the Mac port… both of which were essentially complete. Bastards.
