21st Century Digital Boy

The boss (not Bruce Springsteen, my boss) finally hopped on the broadband bandwagon last week. For extra geek bonus points he went wireless as well.

I didn’t have the heart to tell him that next week we’re all getting cybernetic implants. :)

Minne-snow-ta

Yes, I am glad that I put on my Winter tires last week, why do you ask? :)

It was snowing Saturday night when I left the movie theater… the theater several miles up the interstate from here… which meant dealing with several miles of treacherous roads on the way home. Splendid.

This was not your typical, Happy Fun, “let’s make snow angels,” light and fluffy snow, but rather it was the wet and slippery, “I am death incarnate” variety. I like four-wheel power slides in the parking lot as much as — or more than — the next guy, but I’m not real keen on dodging cars on the highway while I’m counting the seconds until the wet roads turn into a giant sheet of ice.

Happily, almost everyone else was doing the 40-mph “this is the first real snow of the season and I don’t want to wreck my car” driving. Such slow speeds are only allowable during the “first real snow” and will not be tolerated later in the season unless a blizzard or freezing drizzle is in effect.

(I pity the S.O.B.’s with the J.O.B.’s that specifically require lots of driving in bad weather, like snow plow drivers and tow truck operators. Poor bastards.)

It snowed more today, as far as I know… I peered out the window for a few seconds several hours ago and it was snowing then. I couldn’t get up enough enthusiasm for any of the movies currently showing to actually venture out, so I basically sat on my butt all day. I did buy an audiobook from the iTMS though, so that’s something.

Spambot Interruptus

<Terminator voice>Surf’s Up, @sshole!</Terminator voice>

Turn’s out that “surf22.intensive.net” is, in fact, home to a spambot, not a legitimate search engine as I had suspected the first time it tried to hit this site. It has attempted to post spam comments here about 50 times in the last few weeks. Key word: attempted.

Sucka.

Seems like the worm trap is working nicely. Oh yeah. Who’s your daddy!
