Comcast. Suck Mud. How-to.

Oh, how I long for the thrilling days of yesterweek — when my cable TV wasn’t more fuzzy than usual and my internet connection was, you know, actually functional.

My ‘net connection has been up for upwards of several hours (total) this week.

For the moment I do have a working connection, but I feel that it’s only staying up because I throttled my 400 megabyte download to less than 1/2 speed. All previous full-speed download attempts have ended with a whimper in mere seconds, killing the net connection entirely and necessitating a reset of the cable modem to get back online (if I’m lucky).

(*clunk* there it went again. Bastards. Got 20 minutes into my download before it blew chunks. At least there’s a chance that I’ll eventually get the file.)

I haven’t actually called Comcast tech support yet; I will tomorrow, just to bitch at them. I believe that this is obviously a problem upstream because the TV signal is excessively noisy on every channel when the internet connection is being flaky. When the TV signal clears up, without me actually doing anything, vis-a-vis futzing with wires, the cable modem suddenly gains the ability to stay connected.

(Damnation! Only had one minute to go that time. *reset*)

Well, here goes nuthin’ *submit*
