OK, so the 1-year anniversary of Kelly Clarkson’s album “Breakaway” was November 30th. (I could roll back the date on this post and pretend I posted it on time but that seems like it might take effort on my part.)

Anywho, here are some random tidbits: The album just went quadruple platinum (sweet). Kelly’s got the current #1 video, “Because of You,” on VH1 and MTV. It was also the #1 song on the American Top 40 last week. The album was the #5 album for the entire year (it consistently sold 50k copies a week all year long, but holiday shopping kicked it up to 95k last week). “Since U Been Gone” was the Best “Girl Power” video and #3 video overall on VH1. BOY was #26 for the year. She spent more time at #1 on TRL than anyone else this year, and any female ever. And she’s on the cover of Seventeen magazine this month.

As far as awards go, she won 2 out of 3 at the AMA’s and she’s up for awards on VH1’s Big in ‘05 on Sunday, and the Billboard Music Awards on Tuesday.

Also on TV this morning is “Your Total Health,” which will apparently have a blurb from Kelly about exercising, and later this week there’s an E! True Hollywood Story about the girls of AI.

Kelly freakin’ rocks, that’s all there is to it.

Might see a nice sales bump next week for the album, which is actually still in the Billboard Top 10 after almost 9 months on the chart — already triple platinum with no slowdown in sight.

The night’s other big story belonged to Kelly Clarkson, who continued her evolution from “American Idol”/”From Justin to Kelly” star to respected rocker (see “When Did Kelly Clarkson Become So Hip?“) by winning Best Female Video and Best Pop Video with “Since U Been Gone.”

Clarkson, whose cute acceptance speeches exemplified her innocent charm (she brought her best friend up “because she doesn’t have a posse”), also closed the show with her infectious breakthrough single, dousing herself with “rain” in a perfect ending to a water-themed production

And she’s singing during the Super Bowl pre-game show (between 1-2pm Central, most likely).

And she’ll be on Teen Nick Saturday and Sunday night next weekend.

And her new album, Breakaway, has already sold 1.2 million copies.

Miss Kelly Brianne Clarkson is 22 today. She’ll be taking a month off now that her tour is finished and then go into the studio to work on her second album. If I could pre-order it right now I would.

The last tour date was last Friday here in St. Paul and she sang a new song called “Don’t,” which will hopefully be on the new album. She didn’t sing it at any other shows so it was a big surprise. It was also a big surprise to my web hosting provider when 4,560 of my closest friends stopped by to download it before I burned through my bandwidth quota (graph).

Kelly will be on “King of the Hill” on May 2nd, doing the voices of two characters, and on the AI3 finale on May 26th.

Wouldn’t it make more sense for the March of Dimes to actually be held _in_ March? Geez.

Kidding.

Anywho, Kelly Clarkson is the first Celebrity Ambassador for Team Youth. Help out the cause by buying a virtual Prematurity Band. All the cool people are doing it.
